Collard Greens

I always crave for green leafy vegetables. Back in the Philippines where I grow up we always have vegetables on the table every meal. When I got here in the US I have a hard time figuring out how to cook there green leafy vegetables here. I have eaten a lot of lettuces but would like to try cooking the other green leafy vegetables. So this year I decided to plant one green vegetable and it is called collard greens. I checked out google and look for recipes and found one that is easy and so yummy.

I cut the collard greens leaving the hard part in the middle.

I then boil it for 8 minutes. Then I drain it.

In a wol I saute onion first until it will be translucent then I added the minched garlic. While stirring you can mix the collard greens at this time. But if you have a left over fish meat, shrimp, ham or pork slice it and mix it with the collard greens. Put a little vinegar on it I used rice vinegar then season with salt and pepper. Eat it hot.

My simple collard green dish. I am very glad I found this recipe and this vegetable.
